How to use your Beaivi watch
A Beaivi watch is an automatic mechanical watch. It does not use a battery. Instead, it is powered by a mechanical movement inside the watch.
Inside the movement there is a rotor that moves when the watch moves. This motion winds the mainspring, which stores the energy that keeps the watch running.
This means the watch feels alive in a different way than a quartz watch — but it also needs a little care.
Getting started
If your watch has stopped, gently shake it from side to side to start the automatic movement.
This moves the rotor inside the NH35 movement and begins winding the mainspring. Once the watch has started, wear it on your wrist. Normal wrist movement will continue to wind the watch automatically.
For a stronger power reserve, you can also wind the watch manually. With the crown in its normal position, turn it gently clockwise. The NH35 movement is fully wound after approximately 55 turns of the crown.
You do not need to fully wind the watch every time. A gentle shake is usually enough to start the movement, and wearing the watch will keep it running.
Do not use force when turning the crown. If the crown feels unusually tight or difficult to turn, stop and contact us.
If the watch stops
If you do not wear the watch for a while, it may stop. This is completely normal for an automatic watch.
Simply start it again by gently shaking it from side to side, set the time if needed, and wear it as usual.
Setting the date
Avoid changing the date when the hands are between 9 PM and 3 AM.
During this time, the date mechanism may already be working inside the movement. Changing the date manually in this period can damage the watch.
To be safe, move the hands away from this time period before changing the date.
Water resistance
The Beaivi Badjáneapmi watch is water resistant to 50 metres.
This means it can handle everyday situations like hand washing, light rain and small splashes.
It is not made for swimming, showering, sauna, diving or long exposure to water.
Always make sure the crown is fully closed before the watch comes into contact with water.
Leather straps and water
Leather straps should be kept away from water, sweat, perfume and oils.
Leather is a natural material. It will soften, darken and develop patina over time. This is normal and part of how leather ages.
For wet conditions, use the FKM rubber strap if included with your watch.
Magnets and shocks
Avoid placing your watch close to strong magnets, such as speakers, magnetic phone accessories, tablets, laptops, wireless chargers or magnetic clasps.
Magnetism can affect the accuracy of a mechanical watch.
You should also avoid dropping the watch or exposing it to strong impacts or heavy vibration.
Accuracy
Automatic watches are mechanical. They are not as exact as battery-powered quartz watches.
Small daily variations are normal. Accuracy can be affected by how often you wear the watch, how it is stored, temperature, magnetism and movement.
If the watch suddenly runs much faster, much slower or behaves unusually, contact us.
Simple care tips
Wipe the watch with a soft, dry cloth after use.
Keep the crown closed.
Avoid swimming, showering and sauna.
Keep leather straps away from water.
Avoid strong magnets and hard impacts.
Store the watch in a dry place when not in use.
Do not open the caseback yourself.
